After docking in Juneau, Alaska, at 7am, we paid $14 each for a roundtrip shuttle ride to the Mendenhall Glacier. Of note is who was driving the shuttle bus... none other than Thomas. We had requested him because during our visit two years ago, Thomas was not only our driver, but a gracious host and entertainer with quips and anecdotes as he regaled his passengers with local facts and lore... like his comment about bald eagles being as common around Juneau as other birds are to us. Hence, Thomas referred to our national bird as the Juneau pigeon. He did not disappoint this trip either.
