Chuck Taylor All-Stars -or- Converse All-Stars were first produced by the company, Converse, in 1917 to capture the basketball shoe market. Chuck Taylor was a basketball player and salesman for Converse, improved the design and became the product's spokesman in the 1920's. Converse was bought by Nike in 2003.
