Back to Machu Picchu… to hike six miles on a cobblestone path and granite steps to the Sun Gate and back. Perfect day for it… overcast and occasional sun, no rain. And the views of Machu Picchu along the way were spectacular. Along the way, you also get an excellent view of the winding road buses use to drive visitors to and from Machu Picchu from the town of Agua Caliente on the Urubamba River. After the hike, it was time to retrace our route back to Cusco by train and bus, a distance of about 90 miles. Took a while, arriving at our hotel about 7 PM… where we had dinner and a room was waiting for us.
