The hugely popular tourist destination, Lake Louise, was called "The Lake of Little Fishes" by the Stoney Indian tribe. In 1882, Tom Wilson, an outfitter, was the first white man to lay eyes on what he named Emerald Lake. Two years later, the name was changed to Lake Louise in honor of Princess Louise Caroline Alberta, daughter of Queen Victoria.
