June 30: continuing south on the Icefields Parkway to Lake Loiuse...

Woke up at 4:45 in the morning as the sun was beginning to light things up... like snow. I immediately woke Peggy and we watched the small flakes falling and covering the surrounding landscape with a thin blanket of snow. Needless to say, we did not sleep much after that. So, while watching some snowshoe hare hopping about the campground, we had breakfast, packed it up, wiped the snow from the windshield and headed south to Lake Louise, about 124km down the Icefield Parkway and back onto the Trans Canada Highway 1...

Of which I've already mentioned the 'majestic and awe-inspiring' landscapes along both sides of the road-- the never-ending, looming and jagged peaks that incline one to slow down so as to try to appreciate or perhaps comprehend.

"Oh my gosh, look at that!" I've said repeatedly as I pull over to the side of the road yet again to attempt to capture the scene and the moment with my camera. Anyway...

We arrived at Lake Louise and Banff National Park by 10:45, plugged in the FED and hiked to, and half way around and back, the world-famous Lake Loiuse.

More on Nutcrackers, too.
