June 28: east on Highway 16 to Alberta Province and Jasper National Park on mountain time

It's more expensive spending time in Canadian national parks than in the U.S. Shortly after driving into Alberta, we pulled up to the entry station for Jasper National Park. Park fee: $9.80 per day per person-- not including camping fee. We paid for five days-- which includes Banff National Park to the south. Not cheap. Anyway...

The Canadian Rockies. May not be as high as peaks in the U.S. Rockies, but the peaks we saw along the road against the skyline were every bit as majestic and awe-inspiring.

Outside of Jasper at the north end of the Icefield Parkway is a trail that takes you up the Maligne Canyon. This trail can be accessed at six different bridges. We parked at the sixth bridge, the lowest point, and hiked up to the first and back. Oh my gosh! How do I describe this amazing trail offering amazing views of what I'd rather call a gorge. Can't really.. you take the hike yourself...

Oh, and saw some wildlife...
