June 22: to Pacific Rim National Park Reserve

After a cool hike to Goldstream Falls, we hitched up the FED and headed north on the Trans Canada Highway 1... the main road that runs along the east coast of Vancouver Island to Nanaimo. To continue on 1, however, one would have to take a ferry over to mainland British Columbia. On Vancouver Island, the road changes to Highway 19. Anyway...

Then turn west on Highway 4 just north of Nanaimo, crossing the island, to get to the Pacific Rim NPR. Cool road, but technical in parts-- as in ups and downs and roads in need of repair. Nevertheless, we arrived to claim our reservations at the Green Point campground and took a short stroll along the beach-- the 'rim' of Vancouver Island next to the Pacific ocean.
