June 21, part I: leaving Larrabee SP

Peggy and I and Layla decided to hike that morning to Fragrance Lake out of Larrabee SP-- as long we got back and were on the road by 10am in order to drive to (20 miles) do the laundry, and catch the ferry to Vancouver Island at 2pm. Fragrance Lake is two miles from the campground with a 1,000 foot (steep) elevation gain.

"We can do it," Peggy decided as we began the hike at 7:45.

Peggy, being faster on the hike pace and me with inclinations to stop and take a picture, had gotten ahead of me and turned off the trail to 'view' a vista point. I then managed to pass this turn off and continue up the trail to Fragrance Lake... of which I arrived and discovered no Peggy. I inquired from a fisherman if he had seen a woman with a black dog. When he said no, I politely requested that if he did, to tell her I had headed back down to the campground.

Long story short, Peggy and I did end up rendezvousing at the campsite, showered, pulled out of Larrabee at 10 am, drove to Anacortes, did the laundry. and caught the ferry to Vancouver Isl at 2pm...
