 The road to Hana is 52 miles from Kahului to the town of Hana in east Maui. It skirts the coast with 54 one-lane bridges and approximately 620 curves. The drive can be made 'safely' in 2.5 hours with no stops. But that's the thing… there's lots to see, so we stopped a lot. And to take our time to savor and explore the sights, Peggy had come up with a plan: renting some camping gear and spending the night at a campground in Haleakala National Park, 10 miles south of Hana.
