Catcher of a Cross. The monument is meaningful as it recognizes Vodici and the Baptism of Jesus Christ and the Sanctification of the waters of the Ohrid Lake. On January 19th each year, a holy cross is thrown into Lake Ohrid. People, in a spirited frenzy, then dash into the freezing water and try to recover the cross from the lake. According to church beliefs, the cross will bring them health and happiness during the course of the year. And according to Daniel, it's a very popular tradition.
