Fannette Island is the only island at Lake Tahoe. The stone structure on top that looks like a miniature castle was built in 1929 by Mrs. Lora Josephine Knight (zoom in), who referred to it as the "Tea House". After being transported to the island by motorboat, Mrs. Knight and her guests would occasionally be served tea there. Fannette Island had a previous caretaker in the 1860's by the name of Captain Richard Barter, however... a more interesting story...
