Selected city benches in Reykjavík have become literary retreats, through an initiative of Reykjavík UNESCO City of Literature. Travellers in the city can now enjoy listening to readings from Icelandic literature by scanning a QR-code, placed on 14 city benches, with a smart-phone. The retreats can be found far and wide in the city. Four of them are placed by the statues of renowned Icelandic authors, like Tómas Guðmundsson (1901-1983), seated next to the equally renowned Henry Winters.
