We returned to Akureyri and got off the tour bus at the end of town and walked back to the hotel. One of the unique aspects of Akureyri are its traffic lights. The red stop signals are in the shape of a heart. The hearts appeared as a consequence of the financial crash in Iceland in 2008, when there was a need for some positive thinking and to put emphasis on what really matters.
