We woke up to a fine morning in Paxford. Looking out the 2nd story window, we took in the sight of the old church across the street and the surrounding pasture. After breakfast, it was off to Blenheim Palace, the residence of the dukes of Malborough which is located near the town of Woodstock. It was a drive of about 25 miles from where we were staying in Paxford. Blenheim was built between 1705 and 1724 and was…

"Designed in the rare, and short-lived, English Baroque style, architectural appreciation of the palace is as divided today as it was in the 1720's. It is unique in its combined usage as a family home, mausoleum and national monument. The palace is also notable as the birthplace and ancestral home of Sir Winston Churchill."

A bit expensive (21 pounds for each of us) to visit the palace, but it was worth it…
