Ramesses II, 19th Dynasty, about 1270 BC, from the Ramesseum in western Thebes. This is the upper part of a seated statue, one of a pair set up in the king's mortuary temple. The hole in the chest, which appeared before 1817 AD, may have been made by Napoleon's expedition trying to remove the statue.
