"Medical Treatise" with engravings by Thomas Geninus, 1545. This is among the earliest works in Britain illustrated by engravings rather than woodcuts. The book introduced to England the medical discoveries of Andreas Vesalius (1514-1564), a Flemish scholar who was the Professor at Padua University in Italy. Vesalius complained of these unauthorized copies of the woodcuts from his own edition, published in Basel, Switzerland, in 1543.
