It was (is) my brother's birthday on June 24th. I celebrated it by traveling… which is what we did a lot of growing up as the two oldest of five military children. Anyway…

It was time to head to London. No car… we had bought tickets on the East Coast train. Good deal, actually, for 40 pounds since we bought them two days in advance. We checked out of the Hampton in York and were on the train at 12:30. We arrived at the King's Crossing Station in London two hours later. Our pre-arranged accommodations were located on Sloane Ave about 4 1/2 miles away. Too far to walk with rollie baggage in tow, so we took the "Underground"… more locally referred to as the "Tube" (like BART in the SF bay area). We got off at the Knightsbride Station and walked and carted down Sloane 'street'. Couldn't find the Nell Gwynn Apartments because we needed to be on Sloane 'Ave'. I suggested Peggy ask a taxi driver who directed us in the right direction.

Our flat for the next four nights in London was on the 6th floor overlooking the Marlborough Primary School. And I don't imagine Londoners see many sunsets in a generally wet environment, but I did that night…
