Inverness to Edinburgh, Scotland. It was a long driving day, so we got an early breakfast and were on the A9 by 8:30 in the morning. Route numbers with an "A" are a mix of two-lane each way and dual carriage ways (two lanes going each direction. It was about 150 miles to our first destination, Stirling Castle, that sits on a Crag called Castle Hill. Most of the principal buildings of the castle date from the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, along with a few structures from the fourteenth century. It is is one of the largest and most important castles, both historically and architecturally, in Scotland. Our next destination was Edinburgh where we had a room reserved for the next three nights at the Ardleigh Guest House. Drove right to it… finally getting better at navigating the big cities… Peggy the navigator, me the pilot. |
