And into Scotland where lakes are lochs. We drove on narrow two-laners and dual/triple/quadruple carriageways around Glascow and into Loch Lomond National Park. Lomond is the 2nd largest lake in Scotland. Just to the north of the park is the small town of Arrochar, where we stayed overnight at the Rowantree Cottage Bed & Breakfast. Our room was on the 2nd floor with a bay window facing Loch Long which had a padded nook seat next to it.

We then went to a pub across the street for lunch with two flat screens in opposite upper corners of the room playing vintage Tina Turner videos. The view of the loch from the panoramic window was worth it though. We also talked to an older local gent who recommended a 6-mile trail that zigzagged up a surrounding hillside, along a forest service road, and along a shore road back to Arrochar.

Rhododendrons. They grow wild and prolifically everywhere…
