Bored prison guards as they sat on duty might had made these wall carvings. Most seem to fall into two groups. There are numerous crude scratched carvings, mostly of four-legged animals. A second group is more finely carved, with a variety of coats of arms and heraldic images. Others seem to tell a story, like a fox preaching to a hen or a mermaid with a mirror.
