Layla, the lightning dog. She is about 2 years old.. although she looks like a black lab puppy. Layla is a mix breed (lab, pitbull, and chow) that Peggy found at the local pound just 30 minutes after her former owners dropped her off in May of 2006. 'Lightning' because you won't find too many dogs who can run and turn on a dime like Layla. Tireless. She will chase anything that moves.
This picture was taken on a trail up to the Whitney Portal road near Lone Pine off highway 395. Mt. Whitney is the highest mountain in the contiguous U.S... and can be seen as the highest pointy peak above and slightly left of Layla's head.
