"Post Office Bay, on Floreana Island, has origins in 19th century when whalers began using a wooden barrel. Since then, visitors to the island can pick up the mail from the barrel and deliver to recipients - no postage required. Today, tourists ensure that tradition lives on, rooting through cards and letters to take back to their home country." So each of us in the tour group filled out a postcard with our address and a short note and put it in the barrel. Then we each searched through the other postcards to find one with an address close to where we live. The closest Peggy and I could find was Half Moon Bay, CA. When we got home, we mailed the postcard... through the United States Postal Service.
