...this Incan mask hanging on the wall. The shopkeeper took it down for us. We deliberated about the price ($100) and how we could fit it into our luggage to bring home. We decided to let it go. Ah, but as fate would demand it, we happened by the shop a week later after returning to Quito on our last day in Ecuador before flying back to the states. We didn't let it go that time... and we didn't pack it in our luggage. I carried the wrapped mask in the crook of my arm on the bus to the airport and both planes to California. It is now propped prominently at our home. |
