The artist's name is Oswaldo Guayasamin, a master painter and sculptor of Quechua and Mestizo heritage. Many of his paintings depict the political oppression, racism, and poverty suffered by the indigenous people of Ecuador. He died in 1999 and is still lauded as a national treasure. |
