After disembarking from the ferry in Connecticut, we secured a campsite at a cheesy RV park. Shortly after rolling out the awning on the camper van, the area was suddenly taken over by violent weather: bolts of lightning and ear-shattering thunder, quickly followed by torrents of driving rain. It was all we could do to take refuge in our small van and wait out the storm.
