With about 4 miles to finish my Death Ride, it began to sprinkle. I could also see and hear lightning and thunder... which I had learned to fear on my TranzAmerican Bike Ride during the summer of 2005. Peggy and our RV were parked along the side of the road waiting for my finish. I had intended to take a shower at Turtle Rock Park, but the lightning and thunder became more intense, and, as you can see, it began to rain and hail heavily. We also met Preston from Mammoth Lakes, CA, who had taken refuge under an awning of a trailor next to us. At the height of the storm, I slid the door of our RV open and invited Preston inside for a beer and a drier place to wait out the storm... and watch the death riders still on the course...
