Ostrich Family. This photo was taken along th Skeleton Coast in Namibia by Dan Mead from Massachusettes. Ostriches range in height of 6 to 9 feet and weigh between 200 to 300 pounds-- and are the fastest creature on two legs, able to run up to 45 mph.

"While driving down a dry riverbed, we found this famly of ostriches and followed behind the slowest chick. Then the mother, acting as scout, beered right and started directly up the face of the dune, and the father acting as protector."
