A moai at Ahu Tahai with restored pukao and replica eyes. Actually, there was a story about the eyes... at one time some enterprising people would put the eyes on this moai and charge money to have your picture taken with it. Some Rapa Nui natives didn't like this idea, feeling that the moai belonged to everyone. So they affixed the eyes permanently and they remain there to take pictures for free.
