El Calafate - explore Los Glaciares National Park - Perito Moreno Glacier

It was another beautiful day. Our destination was Los Glaciares National Park to see the Perito Moreno Glacier, 48 miles (70km) from El Calafate. The glacier is one of 48 glaciers fed by the Southern Patagonian Ice Field, the world’s third largest reserve of fresh water. Despite most of the glaciers worldwide retreating as a result of global warming and climate change, the Perito Moreno glacier continues to accumulate mass at a rate similar to that of its loss.

And very accessible. Near the terminus (front) of the glacier is a series of metal catwalks (also called gangways) with wooden railings. There are balconies and walkways with different routes that access different views of the glacier.
