Time to get off the Ventus Australis expedition ship… which was supposed to be after an early morning excursion to Magdalena island to see Magellanic penguins in the Magellan Strait. It was cancelled due to high winds and and a roiling sea. It was a clear day, though, with excellent lighting. I was able to get some shots of the island from an observation point on the boat.

We disembarked at Punta Arenas, had lunch, and took a 3-hour bus ride to the Remota Patagonia Lodge in Puerto Natales, where we would be staying for the next three nights to explore more of the national parks of Patagonia.
