I also found out from Mr. Steakley that the fields "were part of the Brazil Ranch, which became the Funt Ranch when it was purchased by Alan Funt of Candid Camera fame... which was purchased several years ago by the Big Sur Land Trust and The Nature Conservancy, which will preserve this open space forever."
