Indian Grinding Rock State Historic Park is located in the Sierra Nevada foothills about eight miles east of Jackson. The native Miwok people slowly formed the cup-shaped depressions in the stone (around 1,200 in the park) to grind acorns and other seeds into meal. I camped a few nights in the park to do some higher elevation training.
